Well here we go again.
Second attempt, phone fried last night and I lost the whole report!!!
Anyway few thanks before I start the report, firstly to my mate Rob who told me to put £5 on Vahaamahina committing a penalty in the 48th minute of our win against France on the weekend. Secondly to my friend Paul Rees on his 69th birthday. Paul holidays in Ants Hill and whenever he and the rest of the Antshilly crew are down, they always buy tote tickets from me. We as a club rely on the tote and our generous sponsors to provide us with kit and equipment to help keep us going. This year we purchased a new scrummaging machine for 4K. Our game Saturday showed how our team benefits from having these facilities, as again our pack proved to much for the opposition. Captain Rhys Thomas opening the scoring two minutes into the game. Secondrow/winger Carl Smith taking hold of a beautiful cross field kick in his safe sticky tree frog hands from inch perfect Owain. Eight minutes later winger Will went over for another try, his mum Was impressed. The boys were doing well, enjoying the open rugby. New flanker Dylan Gibby, smaller version of Dan Lydette but equally as impressive, chopping one of the Tregaron props legs completely, bringing him crashing to the ground. He and Rhodri Rees were relentless with their tackles. Time for tries. This time Mikey running the length of the field with the Tregaron wingers and scrum half in his wake, going over for another classic Mikey try. Steff Davies converted but it was obvious that his injury had returned having decided to take on one of Tregaron's biggest players, his shoulder giving way, he had to leave the field. Time for Jameson to takeover the kicking, but hang on let's have a try first then I'll take the conversion, which he duly did. Time for Tregaron to get in on the act and they went over for a try. But winger Will Evans had other ideas and went over for another, switching from the left wing to assist Antonio Setaro his fellow winger in giving us another five points. Jameson slotting over another two points to the delight of the Laugharne fans. 39 minutes in it was now time for Tomos Davies (who decided to bring his away kit) to get in on the act scoring another fine try, bringing the first time score to 36 to 5.
Second half began with Richie Waters who played a blinder all day and was hungry for try, decided to have a little run down the right wing, did a little show and go and went over for another. Jameson slotted over again (such a confident kicker ). Tomos Davies was up for it again and in the nine minutes it had taken from the start of the second half, scored another lovely try. Tregaron were beginning to creek, so it was time for us to bring on our bench Gethin Jones coming on as scrum half for Adam Davies who had a cracking game (did I mention he is going out with my daughter, who needs driving lessons). Tomos Walters replacing Rhys Thomas as prop (always brings a different aspect to the game with his strong running. Super mobile). Together with Gav and Dai who were our icing on the cake. Time now for Will's mum Val to turn on the water works as he went over for his hat trick. Jameson converted again. Ennie Minnie Minnie mo who's turn is it next, Mikey goes over again and guess what Jameson kicks another two points. Tregaron were feeling the pain but didn't give up. However Jameson was in again to score another try and conversion (Chwarae teg). We were now on our second page as our new stats staff (Mikey's mum), scribbled away like a ninja. With er Laugharne inspired blue nail varnish was a refreshing change to me Julie. Not only were we having players points, we were now having times!!!! Time for Richie Waters to turn on the gas again and take the ball up the middle of the field looking for support the ball eventually found Rhodri who went the other half of the pitch to score under the posts (Captured on video by Billy Spielberg Pearce). Jameson (getting boring now) converted again. Final try of the game was superb, with Jack Flanagan (who played brill at fullback) making the most of the left wing, putting in a lovely couple of side steps and headed for a try in the corner, only to look inside to feed Jameson to go in under the posts which made the conversion that much easier, but also showed the amazing team spirt our boys have. Thanks for a great game boys. Big thanks for Sylvia Williams for the excellent stats package. Thanks to my daughter and Billy for some great pics. Also a big shout out for Dominic Pullen who has had to retire from playing after a promising start with us this season. Remember you are still part of team and it would be good to see you at the next home game.
