Laugharne 57 pts Tregaron 12pts

What is the definition of a team. According to Wikipedia a team is a group of individuals working together to achieve a common goal. Team members need to learn how to help one another, help other team members realize their true potential, and create an environment that allows everyone to go beyond their limitations. Saturday we Took on Tregaron and with a few of our players not able to play it was time to have a reshuffle. Carl Smith went to number eight, Tom Walters played at flanker with Rhodri. Carwyn palled up with Tom Reese in the second row and Ben Lloyd went to prop as Dorian was rested.

The weather on the day was fine with little wind to interfere with the kicking. Which would not be a problem for Steff Davies and Tomos Jameson. From the kick-off our intention was known and the ball was fed out wide to the wings, which made for some attractive rugby. However the first try to be scored was by Owain Thomas who went over the line after a number of efforts by the forwards to claim glory. Steff Davies converted. Our pack held their own against a strong Tregaron eight. Ben Lloyd stepping in again at prop (always there when needed). Tomos Rees was awesome in the lineouts stealing a lot of the Tregaron possession.

Man of the match Steff Davies who played again on the wing had a brilliant game. His strength and speed could not be matched by the Tregaron opposition and when he did get into trouble he was able to clear with some great kicks which were chased down by our eager backs. With the ball being thrown out wide it wasn't Long before Steff went over for a try which was followed up with another spectacular try and conversion. The boys were playing well and were running the ball from deep in their own half which proved a little too risky and Tregaron were able to pull back seven points at the end of the first half. Half time score Laugharne 19 points Tregaron 7. Time for a cheeseburger served up by my lovely granddaughter (it's a family affair).

Second-half got underway and first to score was Steff Davies leaving the Tregaron players for dead he went over for another which he duly converted. Tregaron were getting tired but they did not give up and before it got to a Steff Davis exhibition match, the forwards decided to get involved in the open play and from just inside our half started an attack down the right wing, forwards and backs combining well with some beautiful inter-passing. And finishing off was Tomos Walters, with his first try for Laugharne going in close to the posts for Steff Davies to slot over another two points. Tregaron still didn't give in and if it wasn't for the strong tackles and 100% commitment by our boys they could have scored a few more points. From The kickoffs they were driving us back to our 5 yard line but this is where we were able to counter-attack, making good use of our backs and getting the ball out wide. Next up would be Gareth Spiers. With the attack switched from the left wing over to the right for Gareth to go over for a try in the corner. The game was ours, Steff going over again for another followed by Saint Jameson who took over the kicking duties from Steff due to a twinge in his calf. Saint Jameson didn't disappoint converting his own try and then a few minutes later Steff went over for his final try in the corner and Saint Jameson from the touch line hoofed it over for a further two (probably something to do with the Northern lights!!). It wasn't the final score as Tregaron came back with a try at the end. Laugharne 57 points Tregaron 12. Excellent result.

It was good to see the Team together even though some had injuries they were still there on the touch line. Thanks once again to our boys for giving us a great game. Thanks to our coaching staff, Physio, stats dept, Sponsors and supporters for a great day. 🏉💛

Also thanks to Tiggs for being a good sport in his red card outfit !!!!!
