Laugharne 32 pts Pembroke 25 pts Sat 10th Oct 2015

Pembroke kicked off but immediately on the firm playing surface Laugharne wing Grant Waters made good ground before kicking ahead. The hurried returned clearance kick from Pembroke was taken by Laugharne flyhalf Owain Thomas on half way. Thomas used his pace and clever footwork to catch Pembroke unawares as he scythed his way to the Pembroke posts to cross for the opening try. Centre Tom Jameson converted. This score took the stuffing out of Pembroke as Laugharne continued to put pressure on them and in the 9th minute Jameson made them pay with a straightforward penalty from the 22 for offside. However in the 15th minute the bigger and heavier Pembroke eight composed themselves and from a solid forward platform hooker M.Hayward was over for an unconverted try. In the 21st minute but living on scraps of decent possession the Laugharne forwards led by No.8 Carl Smith and the rampaging Gary Jones at lock worked their way into the Pembroke 22. From a defensive lineout Laugharne flanker Karle Williams rose above the Pembroke jumpers to pinch the throw. With some deft smuggling the Laugharne forwards needed no second invitation as they drove skipper and No.8 Smith over for an unconverted try. Pembroke continued to put pressure on Laugharne but in 28th minute their over exuberance cost them with a penalty for offside. Centre Jameson eased Laugharne ahead further with the successful penalty attempt. With the clock ticking down to half time, Laugharne lowered its defensive wall and centre B. Wood scurried over for the unconverted try to bring the half time score  Laugharne 18 pts Pembroke 10pts

Laugharne restarted the 2nd half with a sense of urgency and lock Tomos Rees, hooker Tom Waters and props Rhys Thomas and Dorian Harries responded. In the 8th minute of the half scrum half Aled Rees went to the blind side linking up with flyhalf Thomas on the Pembroke 10m line. He found lock Jones up in support who with a good turn of speed, Jones was around the desperate cover defence to score at the Pembroke posts. Centre Jameson converted. In the 15th minute Laugharne secured the bonus point for four tries. Using his exceptional upper body strength lock Jones prised the ball loose allowing centre Mikey Williams to race upfield. Williams combined well with fullback Tom Thomas who found flyhalf  Thomas on his outside. Thomas then used his blistering pace to round the defence and ground the ball at the Pembroke posts. Wing sub Luke Starkey converted and Laugharne were looking comfortable. However Pembroke were having other ideas when in the 20th minute lock C.Williams found himself in space to cross for an unconverted try. In the 24th minute Pembroke went on to claim a fourth try bonus point with an effort by flyhalf L.Price aided by some very half hearted tackles from Laugharne. In fact Pembroke`s inability to convert kicks into points was going to haunt them when in the 35th minute they scored their 5th try from a push over with livewire scrum half L.Gibby emerging with the ball. This brought their score line to within 7pts and Laugharne had to endure  a torrid few closing minutes to claim the victory.
